Dear Sir

I read with interest the request from Mr Patrick Parsons “Where is Mt Ephraim?” (Herald Tribune 30 January).

I searched through some of our older maps and like many of your readers found that the name should be Mt Eparaima and it lies between Wanstead and Wallingford. I have informed Mr Parsons of my findings.

I enclose copies from two maps which you may wish to publish so that your readers may be better informed.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any queries re placenames in the Hawke’s Bay Region.

Yours faithfully
AR Tristram
