Educated Hastings High School; Auckland University College 1933; Massey Agricultural College 1934-38 – Master of Agricultural Science (NZ) 1938.
Formerly Department of Agriculture/Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries 1937-75, director Soil and Field Research 1970-75.
Past president and council member NZ Institute of Agricultural Science past president NZ Agronomy Society, NZ Soil Science Society, NZ Statistical Society, NZ Weed and Pest Control Society.
Publications include Conduct of Field Experiments (Government Printer, 1966), editor Nitrogen Fertilizers in NZ Agriculture (Ray Richards, 1982).
Awarded OBE 1989 for services to agricultural science.
Leisure activities include gardening.
Address Villa 1, 104 Clawton Street, New Plymouth.
