Retirement Of Cyril Macleod

Mr Cyril Macleod has retired as general manager of the New Zealand Fruitgrowers’ Federation Limited because of ill health.

Announcing his retirement, the federation president, Mr G. P. Ward, said Mr Macleod had given outstanding service to the Federation. “He has been a most effective chief executive, dedicated to his work, and much of the growth of the federation in the last few years has been due to his dynamic leadership,” said Mr Ward.

Mr Macleod joined the Federation’s Christchurch branch in 1945 and was promoted to Christchurch branch manager in 1952. In 1955 he transferred to the federation’s head office in Wellington as sales manager. He became assistant manager in 1969 and general manager in 1975.

He is succeeded as general manager by Mr John Devell, who has been assistant general manager since 1975. Mr Devell joined the federation in Motueka and has served as branch manager at Christchurch, branch manager at Hastings, general sales manager and assistant general manager.
