Took over small winemaking business age 19, developed into one of largest producers NZ; president Hawke’s Bay Winemakers Association; director McDonalds Wines Ltd, Ballins Industries Ltd, director McWilliam’s Wines (NZ) Ltd; chairman directors Certified Concrete (HB) Ltd; member HB Education Board 1948-58 (chairman 1954-58); member Napier Harbour Board 1959-68; president HB Bowling Centre 1940; federation president Rotary, Taradale 1959
