Educated NZ Correspondence School; Hastings Boys; High School – Dux 1956; Victoria University of Wellington 1957-63 – LLM 1963; London School of Economics 1963-64 – LLM 1964.  BD (Melbourne) 1988.
Established own practice as barrister 1988, chairman Securities Commission 1990-, formerly member legal firms, law lecturer University of Leeds (1964-66, Victoria University of Wellington 1966-76.
Past member various sub-committees NZ Law Society, advisor to Mauritius Government on company law 1983, 1984.
Publications include Spratt and McKenzie Law of Insolvency (2nd edition), with Palmer and Clark Tort in Transition.
Leisure activities include tramping, music, church and community activities.
Address 25 Willowbank Road, Tawa, Wellington.
