Educated Hastings Boys’ High School; Canterbury University 1960-63 – Bachelor of Arts 1964; Christchurch Teachers’ College – Diploma of Teaching  1964; Massey University – Diploma of Education 1967.
Formerly secondary school teacher in Palmerston North, joined head office staff Federated Farmers 1965, appointed chief executive 1978.
Director Riverlea Farm Partnership, Arawanui Farm Partnership. Past member Institute of Agricultural Science 1965-78, Guild of Agricultural Journalists 1965-79. Past president Onslow Jaycees 1966-67, past chairman Wellington Mohair Producers’ Association. Awarded Nuffield Award 1971, USA Visitor Award 1978, 1990 Commemorative Medal, all for agricultural services.
Leisure activities include tennis, hobby farming and following sport.
