Meeting Minutes 1968

MINUTES of a MEETING of the COMMITTEE of THE HAVELOCK NORTH SQUASH RACKETS CLUB, INC. held in Dr. P.F. Foote’s Surgery, Havelock North on TUESDAY DECEMBER 10, 1968.

PRESENT:   Dr. Foote presided over Messrs. I. Featherstone, M. Small, G. Richards, B. Drown, J. Newbigin, P. Frumerin and the secretary.

APOLOGIES:   Apologies were received and sustained from Mrs. A. Williams and R. Fraser.

MINUTES of PREVIOUS MEETING:   These were read and confirmed.

OUT of MINUTES:
Soccer Machine:
Messrs. I. Featherstone and M. Small are to look into the acquiring of a machine for the use of members at the Club during the coming season.

ACCOUNTS:   H.B. Squash Rackets Club, Inc.   $5.86
(1/3rd share of expenses Jonah Barrington)
J. Danielson $4.00
Postmaster   $8.97

Moved G. Richards, seconded J. Newbigin that the above accounts be paid.

NEW MEMBERS:
The following were accepted as new members:

Mr. & Mrs. Bob Henrey,
Sid. Henrey,
Graeme R. Bartlett.

RESIGNATIONS:
The resignations of Mrs. J. Buxton and B.K. Newport were accepted with regret.

CORRESPONDENCE:
Circular from N.Z. Association.
Application forms from Golden Kiwi Board of Control.

SUBSCRIPTIONS for UNIVERSITY STUDENTS:
As quite a few University Students returned home for vacations and used the courts, it was moved J. Newbigin and seconded M. Small that a subscription of $3.00 be charged, plus a key.   Carried.

LEVIES:   It was resolved that, through our delegates, we make a stern effort to make our dissension known to the Central Districts Association.

WATTIES TOURNAMENT:
Moved B. Drown, seconded M. Small that J. Newbigin and the secretary write a strong letter of protest that the Auckland Championships have been allocated the same weekend as the Watties.   Carried.

AUDITOR’S REPORT:
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the hon. auditor has been unable to complete an audit of the books but this matter should be rectified early in the New Year.

KEYS:   It was brought to the Committee’s notice that at least one member had been able to get a key cut from the new issue and as this was contrary to the guarantee given by the locksmith that unauthorised duplicates would be unprocurable, the President is to investigate the matter.

EAST COAST ASSOCIATION:
As the Waipukurau Club had decided not to affiliate to the New Zealand Association, this precluded the forming of the East Coast Association for the present.

There being no further business the meeting closed at 9 p.m.

The next Meeting was set for February 11 and the A.G.M. for March 4th.
