Born Hastings 19 September 1904. Married Ngaire Malcolm; five children – John Malcolm (b 1929), Elizabeth Carolyn (b 1936) (qv), Judith Kathleen, Frances Mary, Natalie Ruth.
Educated Southland Boys’ High School 1918-19; Otago Boys’ High School 1920-21.
Retired, formerly journalist.
Publications include Golden Days of Lake County; Beyond the Blue Mountains; Waikaia, the Golden Century; The Whakatipu Centennial Story; autobiographical Gold in the River; Ink On My Fingers.
Awarded OBE 1975 for contributions to literature and community service.
Life member NZ Journalists’ Union, Invercargill Lions Club.
Leisure activities include gardening, Freemasonry, historical writing.
Address 191 Princes Street, Invercargill.
