Minutes of Meeting of

BOARD OF DIRECTORS held at residence of Rotarian Giorgi at 7.30 p m on Monday 10th December 1928.

Present – president French and Rotarians Giorgi, Redgrave, Roach, Brown, Budd, Gill and Perrin

Minutes of 12th November meeting were read and confirmed

Club correspondents [correspondence] – president reported that Rotarian Phillips had consulted back.

Vocational service – Recommendation (Gill – Roach) to Vocational Committee to appoint a speaker for a luncheon during February.

Attendances – Resolved (Gill – Roach) that the percentage of attendance of the club and name of each member attaining 100% be notified quarterly.

Club Stocktaking – the District Governor’s suggestion ([…]) was postponed for further consideration.

Resignation of E. A. Mundy[?] was referred to V. P. Budd for inquiry and report.

Physical standards of cadets – Secretary was instructed to ask […] Association for a reply.

Blind Boys Branch – Secretary reported following amounts paid over for concerts

Refund   4.10.11

Christchurch conference – club cannot provide items for concert, nor furnish names of Rotarians attending at present.

Governors Visit – Secretary read draft Report on club activities which was amended and approved.

Finance – Treasurer reported Balance as £26.12.4.

Parke [Park] Island Entertainment- Resolved (French, Budd) that cost of lunch be collected from Rotarians in future.

Membership.   President reported that Rush-Munro’s name had been passed by membership committee.

Weekly Luncheon in YMCA at 12.30 pm on Friday 14? December 1928

present   Governor Alex, president French and 23 members, also 3 guests.

The occasion was the official visit of the Governor who gave an inspiring and practical address.

a vote of sympathy [with] the Fruitgrowers who had sustained loss through the recent storm was passed on the motion of the president and was responded to by Rotarian Paynter on behalf of the Orchardists.

Letters to overseas clubs were read from Rotarians Gifford, […], Paynter and Chambers

Weekly Luncheon in YMCA at 12.45 on Friday 18th January 1929.

Present 14 members and 4 guests.

There was no set programme for the day but Rotarians Brown, Gifford, O’Meara, Redgrave and Hallett recounted their holiday experiences.

Present 21 members & 6 guests

W.T.[?] Harrison gave a chat on Kent being an account of a recent trip to the old country – the vote of thanks was moved by Rotarian Fippard.

Present 19 members and 7 guests.

Mr. Victor Rowland of Norfolk Island gave a most interesting address on the History and Inhabitants of Norfolk Island and was thanked on the motion of the president.

Present 20 members and 2 guests.

Rotarians Harvey and Perrin were elected voters at conference for District Governor.

A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Sir R. D. D. McLean was passed in silence.

Resolved (French – Chambers) that a letter of introduction to Rotary Clubs in England be given to Admiral Lawson and assistance to his scheme of Immigration[?] asked for.

Chairmen of Committees gave their reports on the ½ years work.

Present 19 members & 5 guests.

Rotarian Hobbs gave an address on “Music” and was thanked on motion of Rotarian Roach.

Past president O’Meara was farewelled prior to his tour overseas.
