WEEKLY LUNCHEON held in YMCA Lounge, at 12: 45 pm. On Friday 21st November 1930.

PRESENT 38 Members and 4 Guests. Mr D. D. Ince, Secretary British Israel Federation, gave and address on “the Impending Resumption of War” and was thanked on the motion of Rotarian Penlington.

 

WEEKLY LUNCHEON held in MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY HALL at 12: 30 pm on Friday 28th NOVEMBER 1930.

PRESENT 42 Members (100%) and 60 Guests. The Inmates of Parke [Park] Island were given an Outing by the Club for the seventh time and everybody appeared to thoroughly enjoy themselves. The Ladies of Rotary decorated the tables and acted as Waitresses. Votes of thanks were passed to them and to the gentlemen who assisted in the Orchestra.

 

WEEKLY LUNCHEON held in Y. M. C. A. Lounge at 12: 45 pm on Friday 5th December 1930.

PRESENT 35 Members and 3 Guests. “Is the Y. M. C. A. worthy of a Club effort?” was the subject for discussion which was opened by vice-President Roach and Rotarian Phillips. A motion moved by Rotarian Rush-Munro and seconded by Rotarian Perrin to the effect that the Club take no action but that individual Members give assistance as they think fit, was debated till closing time when it was agreed that further opportunity be given Members to state their views on Friday next.

 

WEEKLY LUNCHEON held in YMCA Lounge at 12: 45 pm on Friday 12th December 1930.

PRESENT 35 Members. Rotarian Mortimer-Jones was the Speaker and his subject “Toc H” The vote of thanks was moved by Rotarian Gill. The discussion on the YMCA appeal was resumed and the following resolution was carried unanimously “That this Meeting records its appreciation of the work being done by the YMCA and while unable to take action as  a club in support  of the proposed scheme for raising funds, recommends those of its members who approve of the policy of the YMCA, to associate themselves individually with the Club Members now working on its directorate, in their efforts to raise funds to carry it on” Rotarian Wilson (with power to add) was appointed as an “On to Duneein Committee.

 

WEEKLY LUNCHEON held in YMCA Lounge at 12: 45 pm on Friday 19th December 1930.

PRESENT 39 Members and 6 Guests. Rotarian Wilson gave an interesting talk on “Iceland” and was thanked on the motion of Rotarian Griffiths. The President wished Members the Compliments of the Season and Presented gifts on behalf of the Club to the Caterer (Mrs Flynn) and her Assistants (Misses Campbell and Flynn).

The following motion, of which formal notice had been given was carried unanimously:- “That the existing By-Laws of this Club be repealed and that in lieu thereof there be adopted as the By-laws of this Club, the By-laws contained in the standard form issued by Rotary International, edition July 1930; subject to modifications made to suit local conditions” The Secretary explained that the manuscript amendments to the previous By-laws were being carried forward to the new issue.

 

WEEKLY LUNCHEON held in YMCA Lounge at 12: 45 pm on Friday 23rd January 1931.

PRESENT 31 Members and 2 Guests. Rotarian Hakiwai read paper on Maori History and was complimented and thanked on behalf of the Club by Rotarian Hallett. Attendance badges for the December Quarter were Distributed. A vote of Sympathy with the relatives of ex-president “Rover” Rowe (who passed away at Nelson on 11th January) was passed in silence.

 

WEEKLY LUNCHEON held in YMCA Lounge at 12: 45 pm. on Friday 30th January 1931.

PRESENT 31 Members and 6 Guests. The question of assisting a lad to continue his studies by a donation from the “Sunshine Fund” was referred to the Directors for consideration and report. Rotarian Beamer, of the Hilo Rotary Club described his Home-town and Mr W. J. Mason gave an interesting talk on the Moving Picture Industry. The vote of thanks was moved by Rotarian Gifford.
