Minutes of the Meeting of the Aims & Objects Committee of the Hastings Rotary Club held at the residence of Rotarian Gifford at 8 p.m. on Monday, 11th September 1933.

PRESENT:-   Rotarians Bathgate (chairman), Gifford, Harvey, Giorgi and Kelsey.

FUNCTIONS OF AIMS & OBJECTS COMMITTEE.
Rotarian Bathgate gave a resume of the functions of this committee.

MEETINGS OF SUBSIDIARY COMMITTEES.
It was decided that the following meeting days be fixed for committees.

CLUB SERVICE – The third Thursday in each month.
VOCATIONAL SERVICE – The first Monday in each month.
COMMUNITY SERVICE – The second Tuesday in each month.
INTERNATIONAL SERVICE   The fourth Tuesday in each month.
AIMS & OBJECTS COMMITTEE   Once every quarter, in September, December, March and June. DIRECTORS – The third Tuesday in each month.

The first meeting for the current year of the four main committees was fixed as follows:-

CLUB SERVICE – Thursday 21st September at the residence of Rotarian Gifford.

VOCATIONAL SERVICE – Monday 2nd October, at the residence of Rotarian Harvey.

COMMUNITY SERVICE – Tuesday 10th October, at the residence of Rotarian Redgrave.

INTERNATIONAL SERVICE – Tuesday 26th September, at the residence of Rotarian Paynter.

Minutes of the Meeting of the Directors of the Hastings Rotary Club held at the residence of Rotarian Brown, at 7.30p.m. on Tuesday, 19th September, 1933.

PRESENT: – Rotarians Bathgate (chairman), Gifford, Brown, Lovell-Smith and Kelsey.

An apology was received from Rotarian Griffiths.

MINUTES: – The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.

PROPOSED NEW MEMBERS: –
It was resolved that the proposal of Mr. James Wattei [Wattie] by Rotarian Cliff be approved and that his classification be Fruit Cool Storage. The proposal of R. Giorgi by Rotarian Giorgi was also approved, and it was agreed that his classification be of Additional Active Member.

On the motion of Rotarian Gifford it was resolved that a recommendation be sent to the Classification Committee that the classification of Fruit Exporting be held open until further notice from the Directors.

MEMBERSHIP: – It was resolved that the classification of Rotarian W.C. Whitlock be altered to that of Past Service Member, and that on the proposal of Mr. W.A. Whitlock, a membership under the classification of Newspaper publishing be approved.

It was resolved that the following classifications be declared open:-

Live Stock Marketing.
Live Stock Auctioneering.
Automobile Retailing.
Auctioneering Service.
General Merchandise Distributing.
Education – Elementary Schools.
Bus Service.
Wool Marketing.

TREASURER’S REPORT: –
The Treasurer reported that the balance in the bank on the 30th June 1933 was 7/-/5. Lodgments to the 19th September 1933, 77/15/3, less payments to 19th September, 1933, 33/16/3, credit balance 50/19/5.

Subscriptions outstanding amounted to 32/11/-, subscriptions paid in advance 1/11/6, fines account 2/2/9.

ACCOUNTS FOR PAYMENT: –
Accounts amounting to 20/13/3 as under were passed for payment:-
Mrs. Flynn.   10.17.6.
Secretary’s petty cash.   1.15.9.
D.A. Bathgate & J.O. Kelsey travelling expenses.   6. – –
E.S. Cliff & Co.   2. – –
20.13.3.

ROTARY INTERNATIONAL DUES.
It was resolved that dues at par rate amounted to approximately £28 be lodged to Rotary International’s account at the Bank of New Zealand, Wellington.

PROGRAMME COMMITTEE: It was recommended that the Programme Committee include speakers: –

Mr. Wilkie, Napier.
Rotarians T.M. Chambers, E. T. Gifford. R.D. Brown, and R. Paynter.
Mr. A.D. Morrison.
Mr. Prentice, Napier.
Miss Stollery.
Miss Holland.

INTERCLUB MEETING AT PALMERSTON NORTH.
Advice was received that the interclub meeting at Palmerston North would be held on the night of Thursday 5th Octoberm [October] when Rotarian Frank Milner would address the combined clubs from the surrounding districts.

AIMS & OBJECTS COMMITTEE.
The President reported that the Aims & Objects Committee had met on the 12th instant and that it was decided to hold committee meetings of the various committees as follows:-

Club Service – Third Thursday in each month.
“Vocational Service – First Monday in each month.
Community Service – Second Tuesday in each month.
International Service – Fourth Tuesday in each month.
Directors – Third Tuesday in each month.
Aims & Objects Committee – Quarterly, in September, December, March and June.

PERSONNEL OF COMMITTEES: –
The amended personnel of committees as set out was approved.

CORRESPONDENCE: – Correspondence was received from the H.B. Perpetual & Charitable Trustees Incorporated, asking the Directors to enter the Club for membership of this Society and to appoint someone to represent the Club to act on the Executive of this Society.

A letter was received from Mr. Johannes Andersen advising that he would not be in Hastings on a Friday and would consequently be unable to address the Club.

A letter dated the 1st August was received from J.W. Wedd resigning his membership of the Club and a letter was received from F.C. Rush-Munro dated the 29th August also resigning his membership. Both termination membership were received with regret.

DISTRICT GOVERNOR’S CORRESPONDENCE – ROTARY INTERNATIONAL DUES.
The District Governor wrote giving the Club details for the lodgment of Rotary International Dues to a special account at the Bank of N.Z. Wellington.

GOVERNOR’S MONTHLY LETTER.
The Governor’s monthly letter as well as a letter congratulating the Club on the method of forming committees were received.

NEXT DIRECTORS MEETING.
It was decided that the next Directors Meeting to be held on 17th October, be at the residence of J.O. Kelsey.
