ROTARY CLUB OF HASTINGS.

Minutes of Special Directors Meeting held at Farmers Tea Rooms at noon 6th November, 1956

Present.   President John, Fitz Fitzgerald, Eric Phillips, Sid [Syd] O’Neil, Charlie Jackson, Lace Kerr, Gordon Roach Ray Whiteman and the Secretary.

President John explained the purpose of the meeting which was
(1)   To authorise a payment from Sunshine Funds to fund for a gift to Margaret Stuart on her departure to the Olympic Games.
(2)   To consider a proposal by the Community Service Committee regarding the sponsoring of Child Welfare Officers in Hastings.

It was resolved.   “That the Treasurer consult with Greater Hastings and that he be authorised to pay a sum of up to £5 depending on what other similar bodies were subscribing.  A sum of three guineas was thought to be appropriate.

It was resolved.   “That the Club sponsor a movement in Hastings for the appointment of Child Welfare Officers and that a circular letter be sent to Chamber of Commerce, Junior Chamber, Hastings Bo. Council, Havelock North Bo. Council, Hawkes Bay County Council and the Council of Churches inviting their support and requesting them to send their submissions to the City Council.
