MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE DIRECTORS OF HASTINGS ROTARY CLUB HELD AT THE HOME OF BRYCE JONES ON TUESDAY 18 MARCH AT 7.45 P.M.

PRESENT:   President Bryce Jones, Laurie Lloyd, Jim Redgrave, Max Luttrell, Jack Cooper, Ian Hickman, Frank Crist.

APOLOGIES:   Dael Therklesen [Therkleson], Keith Garland, John McCormick, Colin Young, Selwyn Begley.

MOVED “That apologies be sustained”   John/Jim   PASSED.

THE MINUTES of the February Meeting were read and confirmed   Jim/Laurie.

THE MINUTES of the Special Meeting held in the H.B. Farmers’ Tearooms on Tuesday 18 March at 12.30 p.m. at which the Officers of the Club for 1975-76 Rotary Year were elected – Laurie/Jack.

MATTERS ARISING:
1.   No restriction of number of members of Hastings Rotary Club.
2.   Very favourable comments on 70th Anniversary Meeting.
3.   MOVED Ian/Jim “That the Signatories of the Club be any two of the President, Vice-President, Secretary, or Treasurer”   PASSED
4.   Brief discussion on the Second House Project.

CORRESPONDENCE INWARDS:   1.   I.H.C. Society’s Newsletter.
2.   From Ron Tier acknowledging letter of condolence.
3.   Newsletter from Rotary Foundation Committee.
4.   Napier Public Library ordering Copy of “50 Years of Rotary in Hastings”
5.   Thanks from Hastings Library for donation of same.
6.   Order for two copies of same from Wellington Library.
7.   Acquisition University of Canterbury, Christchurch, ordering one copy of same.
8.   D.G’s Newsletter.
9.   Various other information passed on to pertinent authorities.
10.   Darryl Ross thanking Rotary for support at recent changeover of Rotoract.
11.   Prices of Rotary equipment from Chandler & Co., Auckland.
12.   Prices of Rotary equipment from J.W. Taylor Ltd.
13.   Information from Rotorua Rotary Club re Hans Christian Anderson [Andersen], a Veterinary Surgeon recently shifted to Hastings.

FINANCE:   In Colin’s absence no financial statement was presented. N.B. Colin had stated that the Second Half Year Accounts would be posted out before next Directors’ Meeting.

COMMUNITY SERVICE:   Minutes on file. Laurie reported.
1.   Pamphlet for bequests to Rotary Club of Hastings.
2.   Town & Country Forum. No Speaker.
3.   Second House Project had begun.
4.   Donation of $10.00 for Hospital in Philippines. Laurie/Jack   PASSED.
5.   Outward Bound Courses.

INTERNATIONAL SERVICE:   Minutes on file.   Ian reported.
1.   Drugs to Saigon.
2.   Tui Taoi declined a visa.
3.   Drs Nelson addressed Committee Meeting.

VOCATIONAL SERVICE:   Minutes on file.   Dael absent.
1.   Meeting was held – Bryce reported.
2.   Some small projects being considered.

CLUB SERVICE:   Minutes on file. Jim reported.
1.   Changeover to be 24 June, on Tuesday evening.
2.   Don Patterson to write a report on Barbecue and file same.
3.   Discussion on new members and Club duties.
4.   Remit passed at conference re Hon. Members.
5.   Levy of $1.00 for member to be levied shortly for a Conference Fund.
6.   Request for assistance for a 15 year old girl in dire straits after death of both parents. Approved that request be forwarded. Jim/Bryce.

GENERAL:   1.   From K Tremain re “Apple Book” – proceeds to go to N.Z. Crippled Children.
2.   From Eric Phillips offering to address Club.
3.   South Pacific Trust Forms available.

NEXT MEETING:   At home of Jim Redgrave – 15 April.
