WELCOME
Chairman Don welcomed Murray Church to the meeting and expressed the hope that his attendance would lead to greater co-operation between The Rotary club and Rtoaract [Rotaract].

MINUTES
The minutes of the previous meeting on the 14th July were read and confirmed.

MATTERS ARISING
In Rogers absence Don gave a short report regarding the setting up of an Interact Club.

ROTARACT
Roy reported on the compilation of a roster of members willing to attend Rotaract Meetings and stated that rostered members names will appear in the Club Bulletin each week.
The recommendation to Directors that attendance by Rotarians at a Rotaract meeting be regarded as a make up for attendance purposes was refused on the grounds that it was outside Rotary Law. However, an approach to the Secretary by the Rotarian involved, will receive favourable consideration, if thought deserving.

STUDENT EXCHANGE
Ian reported that organisation of the Orientation Weekend on the 13th, 14th September, was well in hand, but he did ask for suggestions for ways of entertaining participants on the Saturday. It was suggested that a visit to U. E. B. Textiles Mills at Awatoto would be appropriate and that lunch could be partaken of in the staff cafeteria if the weather was not favourable for a picnic lunch.  It was further suggested that Rotaract be responsible for part of the entertainment in the afternoon, and Murray undertook to investigate and report back to Ian on this matter.

OUTWARD BOUND AND CAMP OPUTAMA. [OPOUTAMA]
Chairman Don reported that Directors had approved our sending a group of underprivileged children to Camp Oputama in the summer holidays and that monies to cover the cost of this project would be available from the Project Fund.
Jack Dallimore undertook to contact the Y.M.C.A and investigate the possibility of sending children to Oputama and report back to the next meeting.

2.

The suggestion that Rotary and Rotaract combine in a project to clean up the section of the new Rotary House Project was approved in principle.

YOUTH ACTIVITIES WEEK.
The Youth Committee has been charged with providing the entertainment at the Club Luncheon on 15th October. It was suggested that Exchange Students and Rotaract Members be asked to form a Panel which would form the basis of the presentation. This was approved in principle and will be discussed further at next months meeting.

PROGRESSIVE DINNER.
President Jim requested that the Youth Committee and International Committee combine for a Progressive Dinner. After some discussion it was decided that this function be held on Saturday 20th September and that the International Committee be asked to consider this date favourably.

Rotaract President Murray Church said how pleased he was that the Youth Committee had been formed and how much Rotaract appreciated the interest shown by the Rotary Club in the past.

He advised that the Rotaract Club birthday evening was to be held on the 4th October and solicited the help of Rotarians to act as wine waiters on that occasion. Three volunteers were forthcoming from those present at the meeting and Murray undertook to remind them of their offer towards the end of September.

CLOSURE
The meeting closed at 9.20 p.m.

NEXT MEETING will be held on Monday 8th September at the home of Les Snookes.
