Minutes 1977-10-10 International Committee

ROTARY CLUB OF HASTINGS.

Minutes of International Service Committee Meeting, Held at the Home of J. Holderness, 7.45 p.m., Monday 10th October, 1977.

PRESENT   Rotarians Evan Hughes, Chairman,
Cliff Cox, Ian Featherstone, Ron Hendry, John Holderness, Les Snookes, Pat Stainer, Richard Watson, Bob Fish.

APOLOGIES.   Rotarians Bryce Jones, David Davidson, Peter Young.

MINUTES.   The minutes of the Meeting held on 19/9/77 were read and approved

MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES.
The Chairman reported that further discussions had been held on the matter of a Saw Gulleter.

CORRESPONDENCE.
Pat Stainer reported that he had written to Mr. D. Kausimal.  There was no inwards correspondence.

GENERAL   Chairman Evan reported that a further supply of Medical Drugs is likely to be available and had had discussions with Peter Young on this matter.

The possibility of Rotary becoming involved with the Hastings’ “Naturalisation” Ceremony, which is held about once a year, was discussed, but as it appears that most people seeking naturalisation have been in the Country for some considerable time before they do so, it was decided not to pursue this matter.  Instead the Secretary was asked to write to the Swiss Consulate enquiring whether there were any recent or pending arrivals from that Country with whom contact could be worth while.

The matter of House Exchange which had been advertised in the Rotary Magazine was discussed and a suggestion brought forward that the Club Directors may like to consider giving this idea some space in a future Weekly bulletin.

NEXT MEETING.
The Chairman stated that the next Meeting will be on Monday 14th November, 1977 at the home of Bob Fish and the final meeting for 1977 will be on Monday 12th December, subject to Les Snookes being able to arrange use of facilities at the County Club.

The Meeting closed at 9.10 p.m., thanks being expressed to John Holderness for his hospitality.
