MINUTES OF THE COMMUNITY SERVICE COMMITTEE OF THE ROTARY CLUB OF HASTINGS HELD AT THE HOME OF TOM GRAHAM, SIMLA AVENUE, HAVELOCK NORTH ON WEDNESDAY, 2ND NOVEMBER, 1977.

PRESENT: Jack Cooper (Chairman), Hans Andersen, Bill Langford, Nigel Ross, Ian Snadden, Tom Graham (Secretary)

APOLOGIES: Jack van Boheman [Bohemen], Graeme Clark [Clarke], Neil Donaldson, Jim Harvey, John McCormick, Bill Patterson, Jim Redgrave, Jack Seton, Ted Tucker, Don Wilson, Charles Jackson.
The Chairman welcomed Nigel Ross, a new member of the Club, to his first Committee meeting.

MINUTES: Minutes of the meeting held on the 11th October, read and confirmed.

MATTERS ARISING FROM MINUTES.

I.H.C. Children.
The Association is now getting excellent support from voluntary drivers to bring the children from Havelock North to the Workshop in Hastings.

Social Welfare Groups.
The Directors asked the Chairman to ascertain further information on the work of Mrs Moir and her welfare group before consideration was made of a grant. Chairman Jack had been in touch with the Social Welfare Department and was assured that support to the Group would be well worthwhile.

Birthright. Annual Report.
The Directors voted $5.00 towards the Association.

Te Mata Peak.
Peter Single was asked to contact the Havelock North Club which maintains the area and surroundings where the binoculars are located, to investigate an appropriate directional sign, and that the binoculars were a Rotary Project.

Landmark Inc.
A letter from Miss P.J. Green the Director, to Frank Crist was received, in which they expressed their appreciation of the offer to renovate the outbuilding and convert it into a games room. This was in reply to a letter from Frank asking for approval in writing before any work was commenced on the project.
A programme to carry out the alterations to the building was outlined and the first working bee would be held on Saturday, the 5th November.

Daily Telegraph.
Asking if the Club would like to advertise in the monthly publication of “Play Bay” The letter was received and no further action was to be taken.

GENERAL.

The Committee was advised that the times of Rotary meetings on the notice at the northern approach to Hastings, are no longer there and that this matter be referred to the Club Services Committee.

The meeting closed at 9 p.m.

Minutes were read and confirmed on the    day of   1977.
