MINUTES OF MEETING OF DIRECTORS OF THE HASTINGS ROTARY CLUB HELD AT THE HOME OF PETER SINGLE ON WEDNESDAY 17 MAY AT 7.45P.M.

PRESENT:   President Don Patterson, Evan Hughes, Cliff Cox, Max Luttrell, Peter Single, Jack Cooper, Ron Giorgi, Noel Louis, Frank Crist.

APOLOGIES:   Keith Garland, Colin Young, Roger Bate, Stuart Anderson.

MINUTES:   of the April Directors’ Meeting were read and confirmed.

MATTERS ARISING:

1.   All new members were present at the New Members’ Forum.
2.   Letter to be written to Arnold Baker concerning Naturalization Ceremonies, and Rotary’s possible participation.
3.   Other matters to be brought up in Committee Reports.

CORRESPONDENCE:

OUTWARDS   1.   To Gwyn Lewis on the occasion of his resignation.
2.   To Ian McPherson re leave of absence.
3.   To Jim Redgrave re leave of absence.
4.   To D.G’s Office reporting attendance.
5.   To Committee Chairmen – Minutes.
6.   To R.D.U. concerning new subscriptions.
7.   To Vel Velvin re leave of absence.

INWARDS
1.   From R.D.U. seeking Ian Jaspers’ address.
2.   From Bert Dreaver, informing Club of compulsion of all members to subscribe to one of the official magazines.
3.   N.Z. Association for Disabled Skiers.
4.   From Napier Rotary Club referring possible new member Bill Cannard.
5.   From Ashburton South, introducing possible new member, Malcolm Walker.
6.   From J. W. Taylors giving new prices for Rotary Regalia.
7.   From R.I. sending account for dues.

FINANCE: A report verbally given from Colin, via Don.

COMMUNITY SERVICE: Jack reported – Minutes of last meeting on file.
1.   Tom Graham to write to Tauranga Rotary Club,
2.   Ferrying I.H.C. from Havelock to Hastings – more offers required.
3.   Request for more Rotarians to attend Rotaract Meetings – and vice versa
4.   Recruitment of Rotaractors required – contact Murray Church.

CLUB SERVICE: Don reported for Roger – Minutes of last meeting on file.
1.  Frank to approach John Perring (Police) re membership.
2.   Also Secretary to approach Tom Graham re Malcolm Walker and Ted Tucker re Bill Cannard.
3.   Owen Johnstone (Dentistry), Dennis Barber (Private Bank-Savings) and Mike Barry (Broadcasting-Advertising) to be inducted on Tuesday 23 May.
4.   Other possible nominations for membership being investigated.

INTERNATIONAL: Evan reported – Minutes of last meeting on file.
1.   May meeting to be on Danish Ship “Roman Reefer”.
2.   Some special guests – e.g. Hans Andersen.
3.   Peter Young will complete Drug Project.

YOUTH:   Noel reported – Minutes of last meeting on file,
1.   Discussion on Rotaract Members – and activities.
2.   4 Ryla Awards.
3.   Moved Don/Noel   “That up to $100 be made available from the Project Fund, for the purpose of Bus Registration for the Omahu Child Development Project (Brown Kamau)”   Passed.

GENERAL:   1.   Reclassifications. Badges to be modified,
2.   McKenzie Trust Application – If Vel agrees, proceed.
3.   Outward Bound Sponsorship request – we are continuing members of Outward Bound.
4.   Membership – brief discussion.

NEXT MEETING:   To be at Don Patterson’s home on Saturday 17 June, with wives.
