Minutes 1979-05-08 Community Service Committee

MINUTES OF COMMUNITY SERVICE COMMITTEE

HELD AT COLIN BLACKMORE’S SHOP, 5.30pm ON MAY 8th, 1979.

PRESENT:  Neil Donaldson (Chairman), Mike Barry, Colin Blackmore, Hans Andersen, Ian McPherson, Ian Featherstone, Bryan Newport, Jack van Bohemen.

APOLOGIES:  Were received and sustained from Keith Sands, Bob Fish, Ian McPherson.

MINUTES of the April meeting were read and confirmed.

Reports were given on:  Town and Country Forum:  Regarded as a good occasion, with the larger meal being appreciated.  It was moved and carried ‘that a letter of thanks be sent to Kevin Stuart.’  It was noted that more effort should be made to mix fellows up with the guests, when being seated for the meal.

Warragul Band:  Letter of appreciation has been sent to those who offered accommodation.  $60 had been paid for accommodation for four.  ($5 per night per person).  This money had been donated by Cyril Wilkie and Keith Sands, and our commendation to them.

Cycles:  Directors had accepted our recommendation that the presentation be at some time other than Sons and Daughters day.

CORRESPONDENCE:  Letter from Beck House, Eskdale:  Requesting finance or help towards Establishing an adventure playground.  It was felt this better left to Napier Clubs, who it seems have also been asked.  Decided to refer back to President Roger.

From Hastings District Council for Social Services:  Requesting assistance for reprinting of Directory of Social services.  Though we had expressed our support in principle for doing this earlier in the year, it was decided to seek more specific detail on likely costs, before bringing to Directors any recommendation for a specific amount.
