Newspaper Article 1928 – Frederic Nelson

The death took place at his residence, Whakamarumaru, yesterday, of a very well-known and highly esteemed Hawke’s Bay settler in the person of Mr Frederic Montague Nelson, second son of Mr William Nelson, of “Waikoko,” Tomoana.  The late gentleman had spent the greater part of his life in farming in Hawke’s Bay, and was well-known throughout the province.  He took a keen interest in public matters, and was of a frank, kindly disposition, which gained him the esteem and regard of all who knew him, and caused him to be popular with all sections of the community.  He leaves a widow, four daughters, and two sons, to whom deep sympathy will be extended.  The funeral will leave St. Matthew’s Church, Hastings, at 2.30 p.m. to-day (Tuesday) for the Hastings cemetery.
