MAKE WAIKOKO A MEMORIAL.

It will be welcome news throughout the whole of Hawke’s Bay that the Waikoko estate has been purchased by the H.B. A.& P. Society. The famous old homestead and the extensive and beautiful grounds surrounding it are inseparably associated with the later years of Mr William Nelson, well described as “the father of Hawke’s Bay.” Arrangements are yet to be completed as to the use which will be made of the purchase, but perhaps the suggestion may be acceptable that, whatever other arrangements the owners may make, the name of William Nelson should be associated with their new possession. There could be no more appropriate memorial to one of the most influential and successful pioneers in Hawke’s Bay.
