Mr E.W. Nelson

The death suddenly from heart failure is reported from Wairoa, Hawke’s Bay, of Mr Edgar Warren (“Peter”) Nelson, of Nukaka. Mr Nelson served in both the South African and the Great War.

The funeral took place in the Opoutamu [Opoutama] cemetery, the Rev. Archdeacon Butterfield conducting the burial service. There were a large number of mourners. The coffin, which was covered with the Union Jack, was carried by South African veterans and members of the Nukaka Returned Soldiers’ Association.

Mr Nelson was a nephew of the late Mr William Nelson, of Waikoko, Hastings, and was well known in Hawke’s Bay.
