Newspaper Article 1934 – Support to HB A & P Society

Support to H.B. A. & P. Society.

At the monthly meeting of the executive of the Hawke’s Bay A. and P. Society held at Hastings last week, a letter was received from Mr W.H. Nelson, of Woodville, who wrote expressing pleasure at the society’s decision to purchase Waikoko, as it always had been the wish of his late father that the society should do so, and forwarding £10 towards the purchase of the big plane tree on the lawn if same had not already been bespoken; further stating that he understood the interpretation of Waikoko was “bubbling water” that name having been given to the property after the artesian wells had been sunk. Mr Nelson’s letter was received with thanks.
