BIRTHDAY PARTY

Mrs W.T. Williams, of Te Aute, celebrated her eightieth birthday last week with a very happy gathering of relatives and old friends. The reception-room was warm and cosy with a huge log fire, and gay with bowls of pink camellias and sprays of autumn leaves were very beautiful. Birthday offerings of lovely posies were given with many loving greetings.

After tea, the great event of the afternoon for the children was the birthday cake with its eighty tiny coloured candles. The children, their faces eager and flushed, stood round while these were lighted, and when the lights were turned out they blew out the candles. The cake was then cut and handed round.

All too soon came the time for leaving this delightful party, where relations and old friends so thoroughly enjoyed themselves. All joined in wishing Mrs Williams many more such happy birthdays.
