OBITUARY

Mr. Lionel Nelson

The death occured at Suva during a holiday trip of Mr. Lionel Nelson, Wellington, managing director of J.J. Niven and Company, Limited. Mr Nelson who was accompanied by his wife and son, was taken ill a short time ago. He was 51 years of age.

Mr Nelson, who was the youngest son of the late Mr William Nelson, a pioneer in the freezing industry in New Zealand, was born at Hastings and was educated at Wanganui Collegiate and Emmanuel College, Cambridge. He was appointed managing-director of Niven and Company in 1913. His wife is a daughter of Mr. T. Mason Chambers, of Havelock North, and there are four sons, one of whom is in the Royal Air Force, and two daughters. Mr Nelson was a member of the Parents’ Committee of Marsden School.

The interment was to have taken place at Suva yesterday afternoon.
