Newspaper Article 1957 – 60th Jubilee Performance

More than 230 past and present members of the Napier Frivolity Minstrels gathered after the 60th jubilee performance on Saturday night to celebrate this milestone in the history of the organisation. As well as giving pleasure to thousands, the “Frivs” have handed over more than £15,000 to deserving causes. Celebrations began on Saturday night after the final performance of “Captain Kidd,” a rousing pantomime fully in accord with the traditions of the “Frivs”. Many of the guests, some of whom performed with the show 40 and 50 years ago, had travelled hundreds of miles to take part in the celebration. The banquet began at midnight, and everyone had their fill of good things provided in plenty.
