HB runners-up to Wellington for Rosenbrook Cup

Wellington retained the Rosenbrook Cup in the quadrangular basketball tournament held at Palmerston North on Saturday, with Hawke’s Bay runners-up.

Competition was keen with both Hawke’s Bay and Wanganui fully extending Wellington. The vital match of the series was that between Hawke’s Bay and Wellington in which Wellington led 10-7 at half time and go on to win 22-17. It was an excellent and exciting encounter.

Results are:-
First series: Wellington beat Manawatu 24-13, Hawke’s Bay beat Wanganui 25-17.
Second series: Manawatu drew with Wanganui 24-all, Wellington beat Hawke’s Bay 22-17.
Third Series: Hawke’s Bay beat Manawatau [Manawatu] 29-19, Wellington beat Wanganui 23-21.
