New rowing shell launched at Clive

A senior four rowing shell named after former Hawke‘s Bay oarsman, the late Mr A. A. Hope, was launched at the Hawke’s Bay Rowing Club’s opening regatta at Clive on Saturday.

Guest speakers at the launching were Mr Hope’s wife, Mrs A. Hope, and the club patron. Mr R. Natusch.

The only race at the regatta was for the Harding Cuu, [Cup] an event for scratch crews. Three heats were held with the winners going into the final. The winning crew was D. Munroe (cox), T. Bone (stroke), L. Sund. J. Scott, M. Goodhue.
