RETAILERS SLASHING PRICES

The Centrepoint retailers in Hastings are at it again. Now in top gear for their annual mid-year sale promotion which opens in the city tomorrow.

“Most retailers in the block are slashing prices of their merchandise to give definite incentive to shoppers in the Napier Hastings area”, said the president of Centrepoint Mr Bruce Giorgi today.
“My committee are proud and encouraged by the co-operation and general willingness of business houses to back our promotions.

“Since Centrepoint has been in operation for close on four years it has conducted more than 20 promotions, including open air market days, lunch hour displays, holiday competitions and mid-year sales,” he said.

“We are co-ordinating our July sale with the promotion of New Zealand’s amateur premier production of “Godspell” which is produced by Mr Dick Johnstone and staged by the Hastings Musical Comedy Company.

To tie in with the production Centrepoint is sponsoring the prizes for a children’s colouring competition, forms for which are now available at all Centrepoint shops.

“Last year under veranda piped music was installed throughout Centrepoint to create a congenial atmosphere for shoppers.

It is proposed to undertake another visual project this year. At this point it is only in the planning stage,” Mr Giorgi said.
