Newspaper Article 1979 – Audree Curtis

Mrs Audree Clarice Larraine [Lorraine] Curtis, Pukahu, Hastings, has been awarded a QSM for community service. She is patron of the Hawke’s Bay Car Club, an organisation she has served for the past 30 years.

Since 1971, various international motor rallies have passed through the club’s area, and Mrs Curtis has always been one of the key organisers. On her instigation, the club has donated any profit from these events to local charity.

She was the first woman president of a car club in New Zealand when she held the top office in the club, and has been made a life member of the club.
