Cottage may be the oldest

A Hastings man, Mr A. C. W. Reilly, wants to restore this cottage, which he believes could be the oldest in Hastings.

The cottage is at 110 Willowpark Road south.

Mr Reilly, who lives next door, has bought the property to restore it “in faithful detail.”

But he also want to enclose an outside toilet within the cottage and today sought approval from the Hastings City Council to dispense with side-yard requirements of the district scheme so this could be done.

The council’s town planning and environmental committee has recommended dispensation.

Cr Jeremy Dwyer said it was good to see people continuing to restore older homes in Hastings.
