Beck House reunion at weekend

Up to 80 former residents of the old France House at Eskdale will return to Napier this weekend for a reunion.

France House – now known as Beck House – was a home for orphans and children from broken homes.

The former residents, from throughout the country, have contributed to a plaque which will be unveiled at the Eskdale church on Sunday. The plaque is a memorial to the couple who ran the home, Les and Hazel Shaw.

The reunion will also include a large number of residents who befriended the boys and the home when it was in operation.
