Ceremony marks hand over

Fantasyland’s new maze was presented to the Hastings City Council at a ceremony on Saturday.

The Hastings Rotary Club built the maze in the park and at a monster gala, club president Mr Peter Young (right) handed over the new attraction to Hastings mayor Mr J. J. O’Connor with the help of Mr Ewing Robertson (left) and two famous Disney characters, Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck.

The gala was held to raise money for the club’s second project for Fantasyland – a paddle steamer which will be used on the stream outside the enclosure.

The club is also planning a third project which should be announced later this year. Mr O’Connor congratulated the club on its efforts and work in Fantasyland as well as their contribution to the community at large.
