Concert to lift Eval heart fund

The Eval Harris heart transplant appeal is to be boosted tomorrow night from the proceeds of a charity concert at the Jolly Fisherman, Napier.

The Hastings band, the Manhattans, will be playing from 6pm and money raised from the $2 cover charge will be donated to the appeal.

The concert was the idea of the Jolly Fisherman’s bar manager, Mr Alan Walsh, and the Manhattans band.

The band members and hotel staff are donating their time and services, said Mr Walsh.

The Heretaunga Lions Club hopes to raise $70,000 to finance the heart transplant operation in London for the 13-year-old Pakipaki girl, including the cost of travel for her and her mother, Mrs Waa Harris.

A mufti day at Havelock North primary school on Friday has been organised to raise funds toward the Eval Harris heart transplant appeal.

Pupils have been asked to bring a donation for the fund, and wear their favourite clothes.
