Blowing the club’s trumpet

Hastings Citizens Band musical director John Snowling blew a trumpet yesterday thanking the Hastings Rotary Club for $3000.

The money was part of $6000 raised at the club’s annual charity auction.

It will be used to help replace musical instruments damaged when vandals broke into the bandroom in Orchard Rd earlier this year.

Mr Snowling said the replacement cost of the instruments was $15,000. To show the band’s gratitude he played a tune on the club’s trumpet.

Pictured with Mr Snowling are, from left, club treasurer Mike Boyce, club president Frank Crist and president-elect Bryon Higgins.
