Booklovers browse in extended library

Booklovers flocked to renew their issues when the new Hastings library extensions opened yesterday after 100,000 books were shifted into it. The library was closed last week for the move. Library users, pictured in the area, which has a mezzanine floor, must use a new entrance off Warren St. The Hall of Memories entrance will be blocked off until refurbishing of the old library area is completed in June or July when a permanent book layout will be set up, The extensions will treble the area of the library. The work was funded from the sale of council shares in the Hawke’s Bay Milk Corporation. The completed library will be officially when all the work is completed.
