Music magic at the Mission

Everyone was happy – the star, the promoters and the 18,000 people who attended Dame Kiri Te Kanawa’s concert in the picturesque Mission vineyard on Saturday night.

Dame Kiri asked everyone to spread the word about Hawke’s Bay – “It’s glorious here,” she said.

International Management Group general manager Paul Gleeson had no doubts about the success of the concert “we’ll be back next year’.

Dame Kiri captivated the audience by her warmth and personality as much as with her voice.

Even the non-opera buffs were enchanted, enjoying the atmosphere of a grand occasion. There was not a murmur of complaint.
