Newspaper Article 1994 – New minister for St Mark’s

New minister for St Mark’s

A new minister of St Mark’s Presbyterian Church, Hastings, the Rev. Alan Judge, was inducted by the Hawke’s Bay Moderator, the Rev. Phil King, with clergy from other denominations there last night.

The Rev. Judge, 34, was ordained only last year at St Timothy’s, Titahi Bay. He is separated and has a four-year-old son – a factor he says helps his ministry in that people do not see him as detached from problems.

Before training as a Congregational minister at the Henderson Bible College he worked for Treasury as a clerk. He grew up a Baptist in Lower Hutt.

The Rev. Judge says he leans toward conservative theology and will emphasise worship and preaching among the 40, mainly older, people in the St Mark’s congregation.
