Newspaper Article 1994 – Plant grew into giant

Plant grew into giant

Tomoana today contrasts with the original meat-preserving and boiling-down plant established in 1880.

A new slaughterhouse block which opened in 1979 was followed by a beef-killing department shortly afterward.

Following the closure of Whakatu works, Weddell added that plant to its Hastings holdings, renaming it Tomoana North.
