HB four win gold

Four Hawke’s Bay concert bands, trained and conducted by John Snowling, won gold at the New Zealand Concert Band Festival in Palmerston North at the weekend.

They were the Hawke’s Bay Symphonic Band, that band’s brass ensemble, the Lindisfarne College/Hastings Girls High School concert band and the Central Hawke’s Bay College concert bands.

Another college band tutored and conducted by Mr Snowling, the Havelock North High School concert band, took a silver award.

A bronze award was won by the Hawke’s Bay Concert Band, also prepared by Mr Snowling.

In the solo events, Amanda Hurley (flute) won a silver awards and Rhonda Browne (clarinet) a bronze.
