Gallery fired up for [text missing?]

Artscene with Angela Brown

Anagama firings will be featured at Kamaka Pottery Gallery, in Hastings, during New Year.

Anagama kilns, which have been used in oriental countries for almost two millennia, achieve the high temperatures needed for stoneware pottery, the gallery owners said.

All the pots on display have been fired in a large traditional wood-fired anagama kiln, left, for eight to 10 days. Many of the pots have been finalists in the Fletcher Challenge Pottery Awards. The exhibition continues until February 29.
