Newspaper Article 2001 – 12th grade champs

12th grade champs

In our last issue we mentioned the ‘Dragons’, the 7th Grade soccer champions from Havelock North. This week we acknowledge the team who became 12th Grade Champions for 2001.

The team, pictured here, is a representative group, chosen from Hereworth, Haumoana and Havelock North sides. Over the past few weeks they maintained an unbeaten record in games against Napier, Hastings and Western Districts (a combination of Taradale and Tamatea). “The team performed creditably,” said Tony Simons, the team’s coach, “and thoroughly deserved the trophy. “It is great to have the Intercity Competition back on the calendar after a break of a couple years,” he added.
