Newspaper Article 2004 – Steamed up for open day

Steamed up for open day

They’re going to be all steamed up at Anderson Park, Greenmeadow [Greenmeadows], this weekend.

The Hawke’s Bay Model Engineering Society will be holding a mid-winter rally at its miniature railway track in Anderson Park.

All those interested in model and full-sized locomotives, traction engines, vintage machinery and other items from the past are invited.

The society’s objectives include preservation of New Zealand’s industrial heritage and members do that by recreating, in miniature, working models of full-sized machines.

Rides will be offered on the miniature railway and two traction engines. There will also be running demonstrations of model and full-sized gas engines, steam engines, pumps, etc, on both Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 4pm.

New members are welcome. Inquiries, phone 843 7277 or 843 3759; or at the event.
