Newspaper Article 2005 – Historic woolshed up for sale

Historic woolshed up for sale

The historic Aramoana Station woolshed (right) is for sale.

The century-old, nine-stand woolshed is built of heart kauri and is for sale with 5000 sq m of land and yards.

It belongs to the McHardy family and is for sale because they have built another one at the other end of the farm.

It adjoins the Shoal Bay subdivision and has a valuation of $550,000.

Property Brokers Central Hawke’s Bay agent Jane Hamilton says the old shed has a category one listing from the Historic Places Trust, which means any alterations need permission from the trust.

She said it would be ideal as a summer cafe for the beach subdivision or for converting to bed and breakfast-type accommodation

“The old shed could tell a lot of stories.

“It has huge potential because of where it is.”

The woolshed is for sale by tender, with a closing date of November 3.
