Young team tackles new challenges

CALLUM SHERWOOD
Eskview Young Farmers

The Eskview Young Farmers Club is for young men and women between the ages of 16 and 31 who are keen to get out and meet new people, make new friends, learn new skills, have a lot of fun and tackle new challenges.

It’s especially great for anyone new to Hawke’s Bay or for someone who just wants to get out and try something a little different. It’s also a great vehicle to take you to the top of the Young Farmers scene in New Zealand with present and past members making it to the top and competing in the much heralded televised grand final of the New Zealand Young Farmer Competition.

The Eskview club is not limited to farmers but is open to anyone who shows an interest. The current membership consists of people from quite a diverse range such as farm managers and school teachers to research scientists.

What Do We Do?

The Eskview young farmers are a group of young people who both hold and take part in many community-based events such as the Eskdale gymkhana and the Sherenden School Duckshooters’ Ball which raises funds for the school.

The group can also be found at the annual lifestyle block field day at the showgrounds where we run seminars on small-scale stock water and irrigation systems, animal handling and electric fencing modules.

Up And Coming Events.

Our ever-active Eskview Club runs many activities and events throughout the year in which we encourage anyone who is interested to come along, meet the team and have a bit of fun.

Events include
the Duckshooters Ball at the Sherenden Hall on May 27, indoor rock climbing, a touch rugby competition, a poker run to Lake Ferry, indoor netball, clay target shooting, beer and wine tasting evening, mystery bus tour, contest grand final and national conference and festival week.
