Great time for good cause

RIDERS from around Hawke’s Bay had a fabulous day trekking over farm lands and admiring the great views, whilst raising money for Sherenden and Districts School.

The trek started and finished at Glenross Station, which is off the road to Taihape and in the shadow of the Kaweka Ranges.

The ride was guided by Suz and Campbell Bremner from Willowford Cottage in Waiwhare.

“It was fantastic and we’re very pleased with numbers. The weather was good most of the way, with a bit of rain at the end, which didn’t seem to faze anyone,” says Campbell.

The trek crossed Glenross Station, into Pan Pac forest and on to Kohurau farm where lunch was provided for the 37 riders by families from the school.

There were views of the Kaweka Ranges on one side and out to Cape Kidnappers on the other.

Most people were on their own horses. On future rides in July and November there may be more horses available for hire.

Money paid by the riders goes to the school, which has two teachers but only 19 children. To keep their second teacher, supporters have to raise $15,000 every year.
