Ploughmen on straight and narrow

FURROWED BROWSE: Ploughmen got an early chance to prepare for the Takapau Ploughing Club’s 103rd annual plough match when they displayed their skills at the Hawke’s Bay Vintage Machinery Club day last Sunday at Grassmere Rd, Meeanee. Pictured are two of the ploughmen, both entrants in the match at Speedy Rd, Takapau, on October 8. They’ll join competitors from throughout the North Island, including two horse teams, and most will also compete the next day at an event in Wairarapa, with their eyes ultimately on the Silver Plough national championships near Cambridge in April next year.   PHOTOS/HELEN RIDER
