Newspaper Article 2013 – Beverley Anne Heard

Beverley Anne Heard
ARTS AND CULTURE

Ms Heard was a wonderful supporter of the community through a lifetime of involvement in music. She was a talented soloist who had a long involvement with Opera Hawke’s Bay, the Hastings Music Society, Hastings Choral Society and the Choralairs and the Collectors Group Havelock North.

The Hastings Music society was started 80 years ago with the aim of fostering classical music in our district, and Ms Heard was the current president of the organisation.

As a life member and former board member of Opera Hawke’s Bay, Beverley had fundraised, sought out performers (both local and national) and helped out wherever she was needed. The Choralairs was a group of people who had enjoyed a lifetime of singing and now perform for pleasure to audiences in retirement complexes, Probus Groups, Masonic Lodges and at Council functions.

Beverley also managed to find time to help with the organisation of monthly concerts at the Havelock North Function centre, which attracted audiences from all around the region.

Beverley was a singer, an organiser and worked tirelessly for the arts community around Hawke’s Bay.
