Newspaper Article 2013 – Maggie McGarvey

Maggie McGarvie
HEALTH AND WELFARE

Ms McGarvie was a longstanding member of the Hastings Alzheimer’s committee and for the past nine years, has run the organisation’s major fundraising activity, a golf tournament at the Hastings Golf Club.

She works diligently on fundraising activities and these extra funds have helped the Alzheimers Society in Hastings to expand its services to the community. Her fundraising efforts have been instrumental in the Society purchasing two properties in Windsor Avenue.

This allows the Society to offer respite for people who were caring for loved ones living at home with dementia. Being able to take some time out is important for those caregivers and is a valuable service for residents in the Hastings District.

Ms McGarvie has been a tireless worker for the Alzheimers Society for many years and her fundraising efforts will benefit the community for many years to come.
