Published photos go on display to help hospice

Following the launch of Richard Brimmer [Brimer]’s new book, a fundraising effort between the Hawke’s Bay photographer and Cranford Hospice will see a Napier gallery host and sell the  original images in the book.

Art+Enterprise Gallery team leader Annika Bennett said it was “a privilege” to be able to show the photos in the gallery.

Mr Brimmer [Brimer]’s Hawke’s Bay – Portrait of a Province is a coffee table book produced in support of Cranford Hospice, after Mr Brimmer [Brimer]‘s son, Joseph, lost his battle with a rare blood disorder earlier in the year.

He hoped the book would contribute more than $100,000 to the charity.

“There has been a great response from the public so far, particularly at the launch. The book is a current snapshot of how I see Hawke’s Bay, our people and our places. It’s rewarding to support Cranford in this way,” he said.

Ms Bennett said A+E Gallery would be exhibiting the limited signed edition photographs until November 4.

“Part of the proceeds from any sales will go to Cranford and the books are also for sale at the Gallery.”

Cranford Hospice event manager Katrina Simmonds said: “The book is a great Christmas present. We are getting a lot of interest locally and from ex-pats living elsewhere.

“I think it will remind them of what they are missing.”

The book is available from cranfordbook.co.nz for $49.95 and is for sale at book outlets throughout Hawke’s Bay.
