Newspaper Article 2013 – Sir Paul Holmes

SIR PAUL HOLMES

29 APRIL 1950 – 1 FEBRUARY 2013

Sir Paul Holmes played an enormous role in the life of Newstalk ZB.

As a man, he touched the lives of so many.

As a colleague, we were inspired by his presence.

As listeners, we were always entertained.

He was New Zealand’s pre-eminent broadcaster.

He pioneered the newstalk format and was the undisputed king of the airwaves.

He championed the disabled, and fought against the evils of methamphetamine.

And we got caught up in his infectious enthusiasm for life, for the underdog, and for his country.

The management and staff of the Radio Network express their condolences to Sir Paul’s family.
